This course has been especially designed for persons who are new to the SAS System. The student should have a basic understanding of the operating system under which SAS is running.

The course has been written to provide the student with a broad understanding of the capabilities of the SAS System. This is accomplished by highlighting the most commonly used programming features.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to do or understand the following:

  • Use the Display Manager to write programs and manipulate the SAS session.
  • Understand the difference between the DATA and PROC steps.
  • Be able to explore the contents of a SAS data set.
  • Produce programs written in SAS.
  • Detect and correct errors in SAS code.
  • Invoke procedures to generate plots and to summarize data.
  • Manipulate data and to work with functions.
  • Understand and be able to use SAS dates.
  • Create SAS data sets from raw or flat files.
  • Utilize efficient programming techniques.
